About Lorna

I grew up in two dramatically different places, Fairfield County, Connecticut and Tulare County, California. My parents divorced when I was three, and I flew back and forth between one of the wealthiest communities in the United States and one of the poorest. I learned to manage difficult transitions gracefully and I also learned that rich and poor alike, there were not many essential differences between people in large cities or rural communities. The matters of the human heart are generally the same for all of us. We all want to be understood, loved and appreciated for who we are.

As a teenager I began working, traveling and studying overseas. For four years I traversed the globe, studying languages, culture and diplomacy. One of the most interesting things I observed was that often people living more simple lives, especially in developing countries, were much happier than the people I'd lived with in wealthier countries. I was inspired, upon my return to the US, to achieve that balance and sense of being content. I completed my undergraduate studies in Colorado and, for many years, lived a happy and well-balanced life in the small town of Boulder. I divided my time between working, playing and being of service by volunteering at the local AIDS Project. Those years were the happiest of my life, an essential affirmation for me that I could craft the kind of life my heart yearned for.

But... it all came to an end when I decided to found a company. Slowly I began working more and playing less. Before I knew it, I was doing little else than running my company, often working 90+ hours a week. While it became one of the most successful companies of its kind in American history, the eight years I spent running it almost killed me. It took a major health crisis for me to stop and reassess my choices. It was one of the most painful and valuable lessons of my life and I vowed never to live that way again.

I interviewed my most successful colleagues and mentors, asking for their assessments of my strengths in the business world. After clarifying where my talents and gifts lie, I went back to graduate school to study Organizational Development, Business Management and Human Development and re-entered the work force as a successful Business Consultant, Personal and Executive Coach.

Today I once again have a happy and balanced life. My self-care is my number one priority and my healthy habits have been restored. I continue to learn and grow. My work today is informed by my life experiences thus far and the joy I receive from helping others achieve their goals and enjoy great success in life is indescribable.
